Casey
Formerly Assistant Professor and Assistant Chair in the Fashion Department of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin with additional training from the Traphagen School of Fashion in NYC. Since joining FIT in 2005 he taught varied courses such as, Introduction to Computer Design, Adobe Photoshop, Bridal Design: Portfolio, Special Occasion Portfolio. 20th Century Style for a 21st Century Aesthetic and Fashion Research and Inspiration.
Prior to joining FIT, as a Costume Designer he designed across the country for such theaters as Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles as well as on productions for the San Francisco Ballet and the American Conservatory Theatre in Northern California. As a Costume Designer he dressed performers such as Ginger Rogers, Sarah Brightman, Diahann Carroll, Nancy Wilson and Patti Labelle.
He founded “Michael Casey Couture, Inc.” as designer and CEO in 1984 servicing clientele primarily through Neiman Marcus as well as select specialty retailers throughout the United States and Canada, formally closing his company in 2004 after a 20 year run.
